Alumni Participate in All-Star Game Weekend

Poly finds end-zone late in fourth quarter, finishing off Esperanza 17-10
Long Beach Poly held off a second half scoring rally by Esperanza to advance to the next round of the playoffs. Poly controlled the first half of the game with their suffocating defense, shutting out Esperanza in the first half, 10-0. The Aztecs would battle back tying up the game late in the fourth quarter, only to have the Jackrabbits come back with an “answer touchdown”, stealing the momentum and the game 17-10.

Esperanza holds off late rally by San Clemente 24-16
The CIF Pac-5 division playoffs kicked off Friday night with a nail biter that came down to a blocked extra point. The San Clemente Tritons closed the gap on the Esperanza Aztecs to 17-16 in the fourth quarter, but had the ensuing extra point try blocked when an Aztec lineman Sean Avila broke through the line and got a hand on the ball.

Jerry Rice Wide Receiver of the Year Nominees
After months of evaluating the countries up and coming receiver prospects, the DeBartolo Sports University Scouting Division is ready to release the candidates for the 2008 Jerry Rice Wide Receiver of the Year Award. The list highlights one official nominee from each state as well as 50 additional at large candidates who have exemplified quality play at the wide receiver position.

Tesoro stays undefeated, repeats as league champs and trounces Dana Hills on their way to a decisive 56-26 victory.
Tesoro came into Friday nights match-up with more than just the South Coast League title to defend; they had an undefeated record and the number one ranking in Orange County to fight for. The Titans finished the season with a perfect 10-0 record, putting the Dolphins away by exploding for 21 points in the fourth quarter, 56-26.

Kasdorf’s hot hand leads Notre Dame to perfect 9-0 record
Heading into the final week of the regular season, the Notre Dame Knights are currently sporting an unblemished 9-0 record and a #3 ranking in the recent LA Times poll. Though the Knights are in the picture to claim the top seed in the Pac-5 Division playoffs, they must first dismantle a Bishop Amat (7-2) squad fresh off a tight 22-21 victory over Crespi.

Ground Game Continues Clicking for Mater Dei
The storyline surrounding Friday Night’s contest was a faceoff between future Pac-10 quarterbacks Matt Barkley (USC) and Keith Price (Washington). However, after a trio of first quarter touchdown runs by Mater Dei running back Jaron Hytche, it became clear to everyone inside the Santa Ana Bowl who the true difference maker in this Trinity League showdown would be.
