Day 1: 1st Annual Holiday QB Academy at Saddlebrook Resort
12/28/09
Coaches Joe Dickinson, Mike Loyd, and Brad Banks spent the day working with the quarterbacks in a rotation of skill stations focusing on throwing technique, footwork, drops, and routes. Carpenter took all the quarterbacks through some of his favorite NFL training drills and Jason Riley and his team of Performance Specialists took the athletes through a combine preparation program. Many of the Junior Quarterbacks are taking this as an opportunity to prepare for their participation in the US Army National Combine and/or ESPN Under Armour Combine.
Says Lemming, “I was extremely impressed with the two quarterbacks from Texas (Paul Millard – Flower Mound and Ryan Polite - Desoto); they have great fundamentals.” He continues, “He (Daxx Garman, Jones, OK) has really great arm strength, I have heard many things about him and it was nice to see him throw. Everything I have heard about him is true, he’s the real deal.”
Lemming continues, “I’m very excited to see him (Daxx Garman) compete in San Antonio (Army National Combine) in two weeks”.
Daxx along with several other participating Quarterbacks including Ryan Polite, Sam Spence, and Paul Millard have been invited to participate in the ESPN Under Armour Combine and/or the Army National Combine.
Nelson Fishback also caught the attention of Lemming.
He says of the 2011 prospect; “He is really balanced with a solid motion, great size, and arm strength”.
All athletes will continue their workouts on Tuesday 12/29 where they will look to improve on Day 1.

Day 2: 1st Annual Holiday QB Academy at Saddlebrook Resort
12/29/09
With the second day of the camp in the books, it was impressive to see the development of the QB's from Monday. The most dramatic improvements definately were noticed in the younger athletes. One of the most impressive of the group is Randy Beggs. Currently in the 8th grade, the Temecula, CA native might be the best 14 year-old in the country (he turned 14 today 12/30/09). His level of play and athleticism is years ahead of his time. Keep an eye out for him over the next few years.
Equally impressive is freshman Brayden Scott from Tulsa, OK. His maturity, size, arm strength, and throwing technique is at a level of a high school senior.
Other standouts from the day include Drake Haff (Winter Haven, FL), David Cornwell (Omaha, NE), Josh Cousins (Denton, TX), and Colby Simmons (League City, TX). Each of these athletes is developing nicely. By the end of the week it will be exciting to see how far they have come in five days. The international participants have adjusted well to the United States style of play. They have assimalated well and are starting to look like American QB's.
All athletes will continue their workouts on Wednesday 12/29 where they will look to improve on Day 1 and 2. Today will be the last opportunity for a few of the QB's to prepare for the upcoming National Combines. Stay tuned as we track their progress in these events.

Day 3: 1st Annual Holiday QB Academy at Saddlebrook Resort
12/30/09
Moving into Day 3, the overall improvement of all the Quarterbacks is astonishing. The practices were stepped up a bit as all the Quarterbacks worked on Cover 2 and Cover 3 Beaters. Whom were the stadouts from Day 3?
Grady Sullivan, the young 7th grader from Texas, was the most impressive of all quarterbacks in making the correct reads during Coach Dickinson's shell drill. Sullivan along with Nate German are two special young men and are at the top of their class in the film room and on the field. Eugene "Trey" Garcia also began to separate himself from the pack. The Junior from San Antonio, Texas is incredibly powerful in his drops and might be the most improved athlete with his footwork.
Josh Cousins continued to be impressive with all of his throws. Each throw resulted in a near perfect pass.
The Desoto standout, Ryan Polite, continued to show his athletic ability. After watching him perform for three days, it is easy to understand how he threw for over 4,000 yards. Paul Millard has started to really make drastic improvements in his drops. The Flower Mound Junior rarely takes any snaps under center, and runs everything out of the shotgun. He spent a little extra time working on 3 and 5 step drops this week, and the hard-work is showing. He's a great young man and is a true leader.
